"Great Hotel"
Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights as part of a longer break. We were very impressed with the hotel. the staff were very welcoming and helpful at all times. The public areas were very plush and modern looking. We especially liked the bar and I would recommend the jugs of sangria with free nibbles. For those of you that like sport there is a widescreen in the bar. The rooms were large and well decorated and furnished and had air conditioning. The bathroom was a good size with a powerful shower. The compliimentary toiletires were generous. It was a shame that the weather wasn't good as the swimming pool, although not large was reasonably sized. Sun loungers and umbrellas were provided. The price included buffet breakfast and there was a large range of hot and cold food. The hotel is located out of the town and this is the only downside. Although buses are regular and the bus stop close to the hotel, you have not got the choice of buses back to the hotel. The train station is just across the road and we took a train to Cordoba which is worth visiting - a beautiful village with the wonderful Mesquite building. Overall a lovely hotel worthy of its 4 stars, but be prepared for the bus/taxi rides into town.

"Good Hotel"
I booked into the hotel expecting a single room. Instead, I'm pleased to say, they gave me a large non-smoking twin room. In fact, the whole floor was dedicated to non-smoking which is good in a country where a large proportion of the population smoke. The room was spotlessly clean and the chamber maid did a good job - I made sure I remembered to leave her a tip. The downside was that the room safe didn't work. I could have made a fuss but chose not to because (a) I was only staying for two nights and (b) I would probably have been moved to a small single room in a poor location.
The hotel also benefits from a pool and a gymnasium. After walking around Seville in the heat, it was great to come back to the hotel at the end of the day and cool off in the pool. You could use the hotel cafe but it lacked atmosphere. A better bet was to visit the tapas bar across the road. And for those who want to do some shopping, El Corte Ingles is only a short walk away - turn right and it is on the left.
Some people might find the location of the hotel a problem. It is not in the centre which means you need to take a bus (1 euro) or a taxi (5 euros). A taxi rank is located just to the left side of the hotel. Walking would take about 30 mins but doing it in 36 C of heat is only for masochists.
On the other hand, the hotel is very close to Santa Justa station. If you are thinking of visiting other Spanish cities, this is the ideal hotel to choose. Despite the station being so close, no noise can be heard. Also, the bus from the airport stops right outside - EA costing 2.40 euros. However, be careful when taking the bus back to the airport - don't expect it to turn up on time.
In conclusion, Seville is a great city to visit and I can recommend this hotel, especially if you also intend to visit other cities, such as Cordoba. If you are only staying in Seville, you might prefer to stay somwhere more central.

"Good Hotel"
As we were in Seville for several days, we wanted to book a hotel that had comfortable rooms and a pool area that we could lounge around and this is exactly what the Hotel Occidental provided. It is right by the main train station so if you ever need a hotel close to the station, this is it. The only drawback, which we already knew, is that this hotel is not in historical Seville center which is about 15 min. away by bus and we did not mind. We purchased 10 bus tickets for € 6 and just went in and out of the historical center.
Hotel Occidental itself is a really nice hotel and more like a business/conference center type of hotel. It has a very large lobby area and the rooms itself are very large as well. You get your choice of pillows in the room which was a nice touch with a generous selection of amenities. As we are from North America, we found the rooms at this hotel were as large as the ones typically found in North America. We booked our hotel directly online through the hotel website and breakfast was included in the booking.
To our surprise, this hotel has a wonderful breakfast buffet with a great selection of both hot and cold foods from sausages, eggs, hams, cheeses, cereals, breads, juices to light desserts - it was delicious! The service at the hotel overall was really good.
Seville itself is a beautiful city with stunning architecture and sights. Make sure you visit the cathedral, the Alahmbra and flamenco dancing when you're in this city.

"Just Had Five Fantastic Nights"
Stayed at this hotel betwen 4th-9th august 2005 to celebrate wedding anniversary. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good english. They placed champagne, card and chocs in room when they knew it was our anniversary compliments of management.
Can recommend this hotel with confidence. It has great location and just across road from Santa Justa railway station enabling access to all major cities and coastal areas in spain.
Facing hotel just over the road is a fantastic tapas bar (next to burger king) which is very cheap. Try "gambas choco y langostinos" prawns in meatballs which costs about £1.20.
From hotel turn right and approx 100 yards is large shopping mall called "El Cortes De Inglas and facing that you catch the number 21 bus into seville centre for 1 Euro.
Hotel has good sized pool which was most welcome during hot summer months. Temperatures got up to 49 degrees whilst we were there.

"Great Base for Sightseeing"
We stayed at the Occidental Sevilla Hotel during the first week in October. It's a very nice-looking hotel, spanking clean and quiet, despite being on a busy junction. Our room was quite big enough, with a safe and a good strong shower and all the staff were pleasant and friendly and very efficient. We were lucky enough to have weather in the mid-eighties, so it was lovely to jump into the pool after a hard day walking round the sights. The old town is a one Euro bus ride away on the number 21 bus and takes about 10 minutes. Just by the bus stop is the El Corte Ingles department store where you can buy everything from furniture and fashions to little gourmet food treats. The railway station is opposite the hotel and we travelled once to Cadiz and a couple of days later we went to Cordoba, which was easily the better of the two cities for sightseeing. I printed train timetables to and from both places off the internet before we went which saved lots of time at the stations. Didn't much care for the restaurant/bar opposite the hotel but the Miguel Angel and Bahia de Sevilla restaurants, both in the same building as the hotel, are excellent for a nightcap and a bit of people-watching on your way back to your room in the evening. Ask for a vodka and tonic - both places give you about half a pint in a giant brandy glass!! Loads of good places to eat in the old town and the cafe inside the hotel is suprisigly good and not too expensive. Try the delicious duck with honey.

"Great Hotel"
We stayed at this hotel from the 11-14th November this year and couldn't rate it highly enough. We initially booked into the hotel San Gil but checked out after one night as the Hotel San Gil does not justify the price you pay per night and we weren't impressed with the rooms at all. This hotel was a nice find - clean rooms, great maid service - turn down service with chocolates! The staff were also very friendly and really nice. Breakfast was also great (buffet style)! ITs about a 20 mins walk to the centre although the walk was quite nice - as you walk through a nice shopping district. Wouldn't mind staying here again!

"Great hotel! What they say is true!"
My nephew and I spent our New Year holidays in this hotel based on the reviews posted. Our stay was just fabulous. After check-in, we immediately proceeded with our tour of the Sta. Cruz area. When we got back, we were extremely surprised to discover that we were given a welcome tapas tray with a Rioja wine. After a 2 1/2 hour AVE ride and 5 hours of walking, we certainly appreciated the gesture. On New Year's eve, we also received 2 bottles of champagne and 2 sets of 12 grapes so we could participate in the yearly Spanish tradition. Had we known this, we would not have purchased our own grapes from El Corte Ingles. The rooms were kept clean daily and the breakfast was great. The front desk also arranged for a private tour of Granada. This was definitely a remarkable vacation for us.
