"The hotel made the break"
I take on the responsibility of arranging short breaks for several of our residents in the locality in which I reside. To do this means arranging flights and, more importantly, searching the website for suitable hotel accomodation.
We have just spent a superb five day break in the splendid city of Seville (13th - 17th January 2005). Having 'walked around' the Hotel MonteTriana' via their website prior to booking the location, I was satisfied with what I saw. I rang the hotel prior to the visit, just to confirm that our booking had been received (I have been caught out before in other places!). The response from the manager, Carlos Carmona was excellent. He was both friendly and informative.
Upon our arrival, the outside of the hotel (which was very clean and modern looking) belies what you get as you enter the large glass doors. The foyer of the hotel is massive and very welcoming. The decore is subtle and the furnishings are complimentary to the ambience of the establishment.
The reception we received was first class, attentive and very efficient, with a degree of humour. It set the scene for the whole visit.
Nothing was to much trouble for the staff and the help and information given, as to places to visit and eat was second to none. We ate in the hotel the first evening and the whole experience was first class. The good food (both selection and cooking) was excellent and reasonably priced. The rooms were very clean and airy with ample space. The beds were particularly comfortable. The level of noise within and outside the hotel was non existent.
The hotel is ideally located within minutes of the river (walking) and within walking distance of the city centre iteself. We only took taxis when eating out at locations suggested by the staff, simply because we had been on our feet all day!!
I would particularly recommend the Casa Modesto which is situated just beyond the Cathedral area. Another supberb eating experience was the Rio Grande in Betis Street which is situated alongside the river. As you enjoy a superb gastronomic experience, you are presented with wonderful views of the river, illuminated by the many riverside lights. A truly captivating experience enhanced by the attentive waiters and excellent food (in good proportions). This was another recommendation from the manager Carlos Carmona.
There were many places to visit and sites to be seen in the city, and the day's activities were capped by a leisurely gin and tonic, enjoyed whilst sinking back into one the many extremely comfortable armchairs in the bar area, just off the main foyer.
My only comment to the manager Carlos (apart from the fact we would be making a return visit!) was that someone needs to have a look at the website description and pictures of the hotel, because they do not do the hotel justice.
