"The Abba was excellent for our celebratoy long weekend"
We chose the Abba Triana for a celebration weekend based on excellent reviews on this site and seemingly good location; we were also able to get a very competitive room rate and we have just returned very favourably impressed.
Location: the main attractions (huge Cathedral and stunning Alcazar palace) are about 20 to 25 minutes very pleasant walk along the river, although perhaps you would not want the walk when it gets even hotter! But there are lots of restuarants and bars much nearer and we thought that the Triana side of the the river (opposite bank from the centre) was very attractive and interesting. Seville itself is wonderful although will be better still once the current subway construction is completed- looks fairly long term work.
Room: it was definitely worth paying a little extra for an executive room, which was bright and airy, comfortable and pleasantly decorated and furnished, with a very high standard bathroom with spa type bath, superb large terrace with furniiture and river views. There is quite heavy traffic across the nearby bridge and an adjacent out door music bar ran late at the weekend but with the excellent air conditioning on the triple glazing kept out all sounds. The only minor drawback was the lack of tea and coffee making facilities but we anticipated that.
Facilities: there is a very striking lobby and piano bar and a nice though fairly ordinary looking restaurant. With just a few other (quiet) guests using it, the roof top area is a wonderful sanctuary even though the pool is miniature- more for a dip than a swim but nice to cool off in. When there were a few more (noisy) people around, the terrace decking quickly seemed a bit full but the views remain fantastic and give a real sense of being on top of the city. I couldn't locate the fitness room and sauna, which I think must still be under construction, as is the walk way along the riverside which is going to be delightful.
Restaurant: after a late arrival, we received excellent service when we dined at the hotel restaurant, and although at first glance the menu seemed limited, what we chose was attractively presented and very tasty, as well as keenly priced. In fact all that was really lacking was atmosphere, just because, after the departure of one other guest, by around 11.30 we were the only diners- even so we did not feel remotely hurried and the sverice was immaculate. With so much choice around, I imagine most people eat out, as we did on other nights but actually our dinner in the hotel was amongst our best meals.
Breakfast: we thought the buffet was reasonable value as the choice is excellent and varied with pretty much everything: all the usual cold meats and cheese, excellent fresh fruit and various hot choices. This was the one area of the hotel where (depending upon who was on duty) the service could be a bit peremptory (which is putting it nicely- we think one of the waitresses needed to revist the hotel charm school.)
Service: the overall impression is of an efficient and well run hotel with courteous and friendly staff well able to deal with our inabilty to converse in their language. They booked taxis for us, and were generally helpful particularly over our late check out request, for which we paid a half room rate which made all the difference to our final day in Seville.
All in all it was a very enjoyable stay and one which we would definitely like to repeat.

"Good Value"
We stayed here for a night en route to Portugal, attracted by the internet rate (€60 with breakfast) and the other reviews of this hotel. August in Sevilla can be blisteringly hot, which is probaby why a lot of hotels are doing great deals.
The decor is certainly different, but not unpleasant, and the room was spotlessly clean.
The breakfast was good, my only criticism was having to keep getting up and re-filing your own coffee cup, rather than having a pot on the table.
Very pleasant and helpful staff. We'd certainly go again.

"Loved the Abba Triana in Seville!!!"
Last fall, my boyfriend traveled to Spain for a 3 week trip, spent 3 nights at this hotel in the Triana district of Seville, and LOVED it!!! All the interior public areas of the hotel are decorated in a very modern style. My favorite is the hotel's bar which I thought was simple but super chic. The only oddity about the public areas was a strange sulfur smell that hovered around for a couple of hours in the afternoon on 1 of the days. Other than that, everything else was cool. Although the hotel's pool was small, it was never crowded so to me it was adequate. A great reprieve from the scorching Seville sun. And as mentioned in previous reviews, it has some fantastic views of the Guadalquivir River and the center of town. Our room was just as great. We booked a king bed, non-smoking room with balcony facing the river and were not disappointed in the least. The room was well-appointed and had very comfortable beds. As far as the staff goes, they were nice and helpful. I've been to Seville before and am completely fluent in Spanish so I didn't require too much assistance. But the times I did ask for help, I always received it with a smile. Finally, I didn't have a problem with the location of the hotel. Other reviewers have complained about the distance to the center of town but I thought the 20 minutes it took to walk along the river, pass all the Triana river-side restaurants (with live flamenco music in the evenings), and cross a beautiful bridge to the center of town was an incredible experience. Definitely a plus for me and not a drawback. Mind you, I'm in my 30s and love exploring cities by foot. By no means would I say that this hotel's location was a major disadvantage.
